john stocksJohn Stocks is a widely published and anthologised writer based in Sheffield, UK.

His work has appeared in the Cinnamon press anthology, Shape Shifting, Type 51, a northern writer’s anthology and in ‘This Island City’, the first ever collection of poetry about Portsmouth, currently on sale in Waterstones. In February his work will appear alongside Bob Dylan, L. Cohen, S. Heaney and others in an anthology to raise money for Macmillan cancer relief. He is currently featuring in the iconic Burner Magazine 2.

Johns’ poetry has appeared in magazines in the UK, USA, Canada, most recently in The Montreal Review, South Africa, Pakistan and India, some of his work being translated into Urdu. He has twice been nominated for the Pushcart prize and has been awarded Distinctions of Special Merit, from Bewildering Stories magazine. Some of John’s work appears on the website of The English National Poetry Library in London.

In the day time John works as Head of Media and Specialism leader for the Communications faculty at The City School, Sheffield. He is currently working on project with The National Portrait Gallery, producing song lyrics in response to the, Shakespeare and JK Rowling Exhibition. John doubts that he could live without writing poetry.
